Introduction

The Productivity Places Program is part of the Commonweath Government's Skilling Australia for the Future initiative. The NSW Productivity Places Program (PPP) is managed and administered by the NSW Department of Education and Training (the Department) in partnership with the Commonwealth. The program provides for the delivery of training in selected, priority qualifications to job seekers and existing workers.

Program Objectives

The PPP supports employment in NSW by purchasing training through the NSW training market to make available additional opportunities for existing workers and job seekers to obtain vocatiional qualifications.

The principal program objectives for 2009 and 2010 are to:

reduce skill shortages, particularly at higher-skill levels and in priority industries and qualifications

  • increase the productivity of industry and enterprises
  • increase investment in training
  • provide quality, cost effective training
  • support the training requirements of industry
  • meet the skill needs of both existing workers and job seekers

Target Participants

Existing Workers - Training for existing workers in priority industries and qualifications to support NSW economic growth

The PPP does not fund training for apprentices or trainees.

Participant Eligibility

To be eligible to enrol in training purchased under the PPP, participants must not be enrolled in secondary or oher tertiary education and training and be either Australian citizens, permanent Australian residents or Humanitarian Refugees. Participants are required to sign a declaration to this effect.

Participants must be NSW residents and/or work in NSW.

Participants may have previously undertaken or completed other training programs, as long as they are not currently involved in those programs and continue to meet all other participant eligibility requirements.
